I prefer not to generalise about religious or non-religious people.

There is an edge to walk between having the support, structure and guidance of a community that religions can provide and the sectarian closed mindedness that can be fostered in such communities.

Religious communities can spiral into weird cults. New agey SBNR individuals can do the same all on their own.

I think if your goal was to get more people (back) into the fold Reverend you would have done better not to disparage SNBR for their motivations and delusions and focus more on what healthy religious practice can provide that is hard to find outside of community, blown by the winds of personal preference, possible narcissism, convenience and these days, algorithm.
