Not sure this is actually the case. Some clans developed agriculture, their reproduction rate increased, the two systems coexisted (and still do) but eventually the agriculturalists out populated the hunter-gatherers. That is when resources started to become an issue…

Still, thanks for the food for thought. Our systems certainly need an overhaul.
