This is a follow-up to the 2 minute read Why I do NOT want to be my ‘Best possible self.

Mostly readers laughed, but it annoyed some others. A few people called it unhelpful, a vent or a rant.

I’m going to work through some of the comments because there’s stuff to look into and chew on.

“You do sound irritated”

I don’t know if the comment was insinuating that a more emotionally mature person would not feel irritated, or if they were laughing along with me. But let’s talk about irritation.

Imagine you get sand in your eye. That’s an irritation.

It doesn’t matter if you (or your eye) are emotionally mature or not. The irritation will still be there, it will stimulate your eye to water and flush the sand out before you go blind.

So what was I trying to flush out? I’ll tell you before the end, and it’s going to get personal…

Another commenter queried why was I mocking people just trying to do their best? What was behind the sarcasm? Some sense of superiority to those buzzword wielders?
